QUEEN IDEN THE WIFE OF OBA EWAKPE (About1700AD - 1712AD)

In trying to review the contributions of women to the ancient kingdom of Benin, the story will be grossly understated without reference to Queen Iden the beloved wife of Oba Ewakpe the great. She was the pride of femine gender: in her days as a Benin Royal Queen who stood behind her husband in a turbulent period. And to be able to brace up to the challenges the king found himself when the Benins revolted against Oba Ewuakpe was no small fear. Ewuakpe became king in the ancient kingdom in about 1700 A.D. and was the 26th monarch of the hereditary title of Benin dynasty. He reigned for about 12 years which was characterized with series of set backs during the early period to the extent that all subjects in the kingdom revolted against him.
The fundamental cause of grouse was to protest against the monarch high handedness and his flagrant disrespect of human lives which culminated in the mass killing of his subjects at Uselu during the funeral of his demised motherQueen Ewebonoza in about 17.15 A.D when it became apparent that the elders and the citizens of the Kingdom could no longer accommodate the excesses of the King they were compelled to sever their disreputable connections. This uprising also affected all his wives (Iloi) the royal slaves (ovien) and other palace attendants. In-view of this misdemeanor it would beholve on Queen Iden to single-handedly take the bull by the horns. Queen Iden became the only friend of Oba Ewuakpe in that time of need, as she made herself present as the kings only hope in time of great calamity when it became apparent that there was no solution to his predicaments, the king decided to seek refuge amongst his mothers relations at Ikoka village out the monarch was also rejected in his material abode.

POLITRICKS 2016: Lies and Deceit By Governor Adams Aliu Eric Oshiomhole To Edo People!!!

It is a retrogressive move for a government to keep blackmailing and propagandizing cheap votes with empty promises out of its citizens. And it is most sad when some of these citizens deliberately and ignorantly let themselves to be deceived and used for personal profits and benefits. During the just concluded presidential election, I was in queue awaiting my turn to vote when a guy in front of me said these words; "the only reason I came out to vote for APC is because of the Egor road that Adams Oshiomhole is working on." Others applauded and consented and conversation and comparisons spewed. But I just shook my head at the height of ignorance. After the first four(4) years amid so many uncompleted projects, he vigorously fought for a re election, and in the wake of the election, he mobilized tractors and machines to all the sites of abandoned projects and came out with these cheap words "let the good work continue."
What can be said of these works eight(8) years after? The man that boasted about Egor road, how is he feeling now, that project already abandoned. All over the state, there are evidence of so much uncompleted projects that were begun in 2008! What has this government truly achieved and where is it leading the EDO nation?
Elections are just around the corner again, and that same act, which was used to deceive us four(4) years ago, is coming to play again. As we speak, these things are being carried out to massively gain cheap support and votes again!

Why We Suspended Four Local Government Chairmen —Oshiomhole!!!

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has given further explanations on what led to the suspension of four local government chairmen, saying their suspension had nothing to do with the political calculations leading to the 2016 gubernatorial elections in the state.

Speaking yesterday at the swearing-in of Prince Joe Okojie as a Commissioner in the state Executive Council and Mr. Busari Yesufu as Chairman, Etsako West Local Government Area of the state, Oshiomhole said: “today, we have ensured that with all the crisis in Nigeria, when many State Governments are unable to pay salaries, I am proud to say that in Edo we are paying. However, some of these local governments, for some reasons were not able to pay salaries as and when due and we have looked at some of their books, we have received some petitions, it is true that finances are low but even if your finances are low, you also need to cut your wastages.

“We looked at the locally generated revenue, in many cases, these locally generated revenue are never reflected in the books of the local government. It’s just generated and paid directly to some of the local government chairmen. There have been several other abuses and I am proud to say that when the new local government chairmen were sworn in, I made sure all the revenue accruing to local governments before we conducted elections, were left in the treasury of the Local Government so the local governments could use them judiciously to develop their various localities.

THE BUHARI IMBROGLIO!!!

President Muhamadu Buhari, a man that was respected and feared when he came on-board 29th may, 2015 as Nigeria’s president with a slogan “I am for everybody, but I am for nobody”. His efforts to fight corruption which is his only agenda for change was lauded by all until what seems to be like a shift or curvature in his graph of performance was observed by the teeming populace.

Just like in adsorption chemistry, one of the limitations of the Freundlich adsorption isotherm equation is that the graph failed to attain a straight line when plotted at high pressure, it only works at a very low pressure. Now my question is; does Baba’s rate of good governance works best at low pressure and fails when the leaders of his party, the APC increase pressure?
Few months ago, the US government refused to sell arms to his led government of Nigeria and I believe it is time the president and his APC leaders apologized to Jonathan for all the lies they told against him. Even GEJ was able to procure some arms through the black market to maul the Boko haram men, but our so called stern general has been unable to do this and the Haramists are having a field day with human barbecue. This quota system general self!!! For four months, “Baba go slow” acquired his nick name due to the promise to come up with angels and saints as ministers to help him man his government(good move); Nigerians waited patiently with no clue of who these saints would be or rather whose names would appear in the president’s self acclaimed “book of life”.
